The invention relates to a diastereoselective process for preparing olefins by the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction comprising reacting a phosphonate on a carbonyl derivative in the presence of a base in a suitable solvent, the phosphonate being of formula (A) In which: R 1 and R 2 are independently taken and may be the same or different and represent a radical of formula (I): wherein at least one of G 1 or G 5 is independently taken and is a radical formed by an atom of carbon itself connected to three carbon atoms, and preferably a terbutyl radical; or a phenyl radical optionally substituted with one or more radicals chosen from alkoxy radicals having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, halogen atoms, or heteroatoms such as an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a nitrogen atom.
