A switch (40) is operable to make and break an electrical connection between a battery (18) and an electric starter motor (14). A relay (44) is operable to make and break electrical connection between starter motor and a capacitor (30) of a power module (20). A sensor detects current/voltage threshold in electrical connection between battery and motor, and transmits the signal for actuating the relay by a short delay.
