The system has an outdoor reception unit (2) linked to an indoor reception unit (3) by a coaxial cable and attached to an antenna. The unit (3) has a pointing aid device (303) with a microcontroller to measure signal strength and generate antenna adjustment instructions for an operator based on the strength. The device enables the operator to receive the instructions and send end-of-adjustment information to the unit (3). An independent claim is also included for a method of assisted antenna positioning in a reception system.
