The unit has rollers (12) for conveying plates, defining a path, and a plate deviation detection circuit (20) with a contact switch. The contact switch has a conductor (22) above the rollers along the path and movable in an oblique direction with respect to the path. The circuit has an electrical conductor (24) above the conductor (22). The conductor (22) contacts the conductor (24) at the level of a contact zone.
