The fabrication of a graphite electrode made up of an electrode body and at least one connection element consists of fabricating the electrode body and connection elements separately prior to their connection. The fabrication is carried out by forming a mass containing carbon, firing, simple or repeated impregnation and graphitisation. The electrode body and/or the connection elements are impregnated at least one more time after graphitisation. Independent claims are also included for: (A) the graphite electrode obtained; (B) the electrode body; (C) the connection element.
