The machine has two leveling equipments with respective active cylinders (A, 2). Maintaining units (4, 4`) at the ends of the cylinder (2) are associated to springs, to apply the cylinder (2) on intermediate rollers. The cylinder (2) drives the rollers and support rollers, when the equipments are in rest position. The machine is stopped while placing the equipments in leveling position, when synchronous speed of the tape is reached. An independent claim is also included for a method of leveling a metallic tape by tape movement.
