The device has a stopper (3) in the form of a staircase that is welded on a part of the perimeter of a side face (2) of a hammer. The stopper has same thickness as the head of a nail (6) desired for use with the hammer and is placed on half of the hammer`s side face opposite to the head to be hit (4) of it. The head is placed against a flat magnet (1) and a user chooses the level of the stopper based on the length of the nail.
