Thermoplastic composition, especially for producing electrical or electronic components, containing synergistic flame retardant combination of phosphinate salt, melamine phosphate and melamine condensate
A thermoplastic matrix-based composition (A) contains a flame retardant system comprising a calcium, magnesium, aluminum and/or zinc phosphinate salt (I), a product (II) of the reaction of phosphoric acid with melamine and/or a melamine condensation derivative and a melamine condensation derivative (III), provided that (A) contains at least 13 wt. % of (I) plus (II). A thermoplastic matrix-based composition (A) contains a flame retardant system comprising a phosphinate salt of formula (R 1R 2P(O)O -) z. M z+(I), a product (II) of the reaction of phosphoric acid with melamine and/or a melamine condensation derivative and a melamine condensation derivative (III), provided that (A) contains at least 13 (preferably at least 15) wt. % of (I) plus (II). R 1, R 21-6C alkyl and/or aryl; M : calcium, magnesium, aluminum and/or zinc; z : 2 or 3. An independent claim is included for the preparation of (A), by blending the thermoplastic matrix with the flame retardant system.
