The dowel has a cylindrical shaft (4) comprising a proximal end (2), a distal end (3), and a middle section (16). The middle section is surrounded by tubular sections (19, 20) equipped with anchoring splines (21). The splines are maintained and/or pushed in projection, to form an off-set external to the shaft, under the impulsion of a fixation screw e.g. lag screw. An independent claim is also included for a fixation device comprising a dowel and a lag screw.
