The method involves detecting a request for establishing packet mode communication initiated by a telephone terminal (35), for a user equipment (1). A transfer of circuit mode communication towards a 3G radio communication sub-system is initiated, in response to the detection of the request. The packet mode communication is then established with the sub-system. An independent claim is also included for a telecommunication system.
