The unit has an epicyclical gearing differential device (23) with a set of satellite pinions (232) that includes satellite pinions (2321, 2322) rotating together. Sun gears (233) are in gear with respective pinions (2321, 2322). An electronic control module (21) chooses an appropriate operating mode and controls starting of an internal combustion engine (13), an alternator (15) and an electrical motor (19) at a suitable instant.
