The device has an air inlet (14) provided with a closure unit (16) that includes moveable flaps (18) and an actuator (20) for opening or closing the flaps. The actuator is controlled based on a control parameter e.g. power requirement of a car, estimated by a controller (22), for controlling orientation of the flaps, in order to control the air flow towards the air inlet and temperature of an engine of the car. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a process for controlling a closure device of an air inlet of a motor vehicle (B) a controller for implementing a process for controlling a closure device of an air inlet of a motor vehicle.
