The composition material consists of a mixture of at least one oenological tannin that is cork-free and acts as an oxidation-reduction buffer, together with at least one elastically deformable and oxygen-permeable synthetic material to provide the necessary mechanical properties. The tannin, which forms at least one per cent of the composition by weight, is selected from the group comprising proanthocyanidine, hydrolysable, gallic and ellagic tannins of vegetable origin, and it can be used in the form of a powder, liquid or solid. It can be obtained from the heartwood of trees in the quercus, chestnut, quebracho and acacia families, or from various fruits and plants, and used in the form of solid particles, preferably smaller than 0.5 mm in size. Alternatively, an industrial tannin extracted from vegetable matter by a physical or chemical operation can be employed. A copper sulphate-based additive can be included to enhance the tannin's oxydation-reduction capacity.
