Manufacture of a composition (I) comprises a transesterification step in which the triglyceride is reacted with primary monoalcohol (methanol or ethanol) by heterogenous catalysis to give (m)ethyl ester of fatty acids of triglycerides and glycerol; and an etherification step in which the glycerol is reacted with 4-12C olefinic hydrocarbon(s). Manufacture of a composition useful as fuel or as constituent of fuel from at least one triglyceride formed between at least one fatty acid and the glycerol, comprises: at least one step of transesterification in which the triglyceride is reacted with at least one primary monoalcohol (methanol or ethanol) by heterogenous catalysis to give at least one methyl and/or ethyl ester of fatty acids of triglycerides and glycerol (where these products are free from by-products); and an etherification step in which the glycerol is reacted with at least one 4-12C olefinic hydrocarbon.
