The device has a case with a handle (18) on which pressure is exerted to allow a part (3) of a mechanical system to make one fourth of turn. A rod (7) transmits movement to another part (4) of the mechanical system, activating lock through a squared spindle (12). The case has a reinforcement that is fixed in place of an old handle to hold an upper or lower part of the case away from the door.
