The process involves bringing a module e.g. remote meter reading module (26), in vertical position with respect to a meter, and fixing the remote meter reading module in a housing (28) on a totalizer of the meter, by top to bottom movement, through a fixation unit. A projection is inserted into a notch of the totalizer, where the projection includes a key hole that permits to guide the meter reading module in the vertical position. The fixation unit includes a key hole, elastic finger, channel and a cylindrical housing. An independent claim is also included for a device including a meter.
