Apparatus for forming a molding from a dental impression, consisting of a surround and a support with an indented part in arched form for locating the dies and the tooth shapes formed in the impression, includes an insert to be positioned inside the indented part of the support and devices for fixing the insert to the support, at least during the operation of filling the tooth shapes contained in the impression. An independent claim is included for a method for using the apparatus, in which the impression and the tooth positioning system are put into the mold at the same time.
