The sensor has strain gauges (6) carried on a support (2) that is applied on a steel body (1) by splicing over the entire or part of the length of the body such that deformations of the body are transmitted to the gauges through the support. The support is made of a ceramic material and has Young`s modulus of elasticity (E 2) equal to or lower than that of the body. The thickness of the support is between 0.05 and 0.5 millimeter. An independent claim is also included for an electronic weighing apparatus.
