The cap has a central tubular unit forming a vertical traversing bore (12) that occupies the central zone of the cap and permits the passage of a handle of a chimney sweeping instrument. The traversing bore is associated with a shutter (13) that includes a horizontal flap mounted on the cap, such that the horizontal flap moves between closing and disengagement positions of the traversing bore. An independent claim is also included for a chimney stack comprising a cap.
