The system consists of a suction circuit (2) drawing water through a series of orifices (4) in the bottom of the tank (1) or adjacent to it. The water is drawn through a particle bed (12) of a porous material such as pouzzolane that covers (4) and contains micro-organisms such as nitrite and nitrate reducing bacteria that provide biological treatment of the water as it is recycled by a pump (5) between (2) and a return pipe. The water is drawn through a particle bed (12) of a porous material such as pouzzolane that covers the orifices and contains micro-organisms such as nitrite and nitrate reducing bacteria that provide biological treatment of the water as it is recycled by a pump (5) between the suction circuit and a return pipe. The suction circuit also includes a hydrolysis reactor (7) in the form of a plastic box (8) containing four successive metal plates (9) of copper, silver, zinc and aluminium respectively between inlet (10) and outlet (11) chambers.
