The furniture has portions (1, 2) with each comprising a post forming a side of the furniture and carrying caissons. The caissons (12-14) of the portion (1) are overlapped with the caissons (22, 23) of the portion (2) in gaps along length between the posts (11, 21) in order to form an intermediate support between the posts. The caissons (12-14, 22, 23) are situated opposite to gaps in the portions (2, 1), respectively.
