The invention relates to a method for monitoring the execution of a sequence of instruction codes in an integrated circuit (IC) comprising a central processing unit (CPU) for executing such instruction codes. According to the invention, common cumulative signatures (CCS) are produced from deterministic logic signals (G1, G2, G3) of address, control or data involved in the execution of the sequence and taken at various points ( DB, AB, CB) of the integrated circuit. At the end of the execution of the sequence, a final cumulative signature is compared with an expected signature (WS) and an error signal is generated if the two signatures are not identical. Application in particular to secure integrated circuits for smart cards. / P
