The device has a connecting rod (18) articulated through one end on a vehicle structure around an articulation axis, and a guiding unit to slide a door (3) between closing and opening positions. The rod is directly articulated through another end around another axis on one portion of the door while another portion is slidingly mounted on the unit. The rod rotation around the former axis permits sliding of the latter portion on the unit. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle.
