A HF remote-controlled energy economy lamp unit having controllable brightness receives signals from a remote module and comprises CPU (14), signal receiver (16), data store (18), converter (20) and starter (30) and brightness alteration (22) circuits. A high-frequency remote-controlled energy economy lamp having controllable brightness comprises a CPU (14), a HF signal-receiving circuit (16), a data store (18) and an impulse/steady voltage level converter circuit (20). The CPU produces pulse width modulation signals and converter passes converted signals to a start and brightness alteration circuit (22) which is connected to a lamp (32) in series with a starter circuit (30). A remote module sends signals to the lamp unit.
