An illuminated warning sign 1 which can be activated by the driver of a vehicle when the driver is unfamiliar with a route. Use of the sign alerts the drivers of following vehicles to possible risk situations. The sign is connected to the vehicle's electrical system and is mounted in the area of the rear window. Activation of the light is by means of a switch on the vehicle's dashboard. The information may be conveyed in the form of a question mark or other appropriate symbol.
