Exerciser for realistic simulation of boat rowing

An exerciser has a stand, a driving mechanism and a recoil mechanism. The driving mechanism is attached to the stand and has a damping wheel 24, a driving wheel 22 and a string 26. The damping wheel 24 is rotatably connected to the stand. The driving wheel 22 is rotatably connected to the stand and the damping wheel 24 to drive the damping wheel 24 to rotate. The string 26 has a first end reeling around the driving wheel 22 and a second end attached to handlebar 27. The recoil mechanism is connected to the driving mechanism and has a resilient rope 32 with a first end securely connected to the driving wheel 22 and a securely held second end. The use of a resilient rope 32 provides a more reliable recoil mechanism than say the use of a coil spring.
