PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine malfunctions, concerning gate blocking in switching elements of a drive circuit which drives an electric device generating counter-electromotive force.;SOLUTION: After the gates have been blocked, if an inverter temperature Tinv equals or exceeds the threshold Tref1 or the temperature change ΔT of the inverter temperature Tinv equals or exceeds the threshold value Tref2, a malfunction is determined to have occurred in gate blocking, because of the ON-failure of any one of six transistors of an inverter circuit (S100-S130); and a circuit breaker is driven, and a battery as a power supply is separated from the inverter circuit (S140). Accordingly, it can be appropriately determined whether the gates in the inverter circuit are appropriately blocked, and adverse effects of the ON-failure of the transistor on other elements can be minimized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
