PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively weld-repair an airfoil 52 made of a nickel-based superalloy which is hardly weld-repaired. PSOLUTION: A method for weld-repairing an airfoil 52 made of a nickel-based superalloy includes a step of machining the surface of the airfoil 52 into a relatively smooth surface, and removing a damaged portion of the airfoil 52. Next, a powder alloy such as IN-100 is fed to plasma arc welding equipment. A plurality of weld beads 60, 62, 64, 66 are deposited along the damaged portion of the airfoil 52 by the continuous bi-directional movements 70, 72 of the welding equipment so as to eliminate abrupt thermal transients at an end of the weld, and the thermal stresses to cause cracking in susceptible alloy such as IN-100 is reduced thereby.
