PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for surely removing undesired obstacles without a relatively large amount of ink being lost, and to provide an inkjet printer.;SOLUTION: In the method of initializing an inkjet printing head prior to generating an image onto an accepting medium, the printing head includes a substantially closed ink duct equipped with an inlet opening and nozzles. The duct is coupled operably to an electromechanical converter. The method includes both constituting the duct to be filled with ink, and generating a pressure wave in the ink. The pressure wave generates deformation of the converter which eventually generates an electrical signal. The method further includes both analyzing the electrical signal, and judging on the basis of the analysis whether or not the inkjet printing head is ready for subsequently printing an image.
