PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slewing mechanism of a hydraulic excavator, which can keep an upper structure in a horizontal state without the need for a special driving means, and the hydraulic excavator.;SOLUTION: This slewing mechanism 10 of the hydraulic excavator comprises: a lower structure 14 which travels on the ground; a slewing driving means, not shown in Fig., for making the upper structure 16 swing round with respect to the lower structure 14; an intermediate slewing structure 20 which is interposed between the lower structure 14 and the upper structure 16, and which can swing around with respect to the lower structure 14 and the upper structure 16 in a slewing surface 18 inclined with respect to the ground 26 allowing the traveling of the lower structure 14 ; and a locking means 21 for fixing or unfixing the slewing structure 20 to or from the lower structure 14. In the hydraulic excavator 12, a working device 22 is mounted on the upper structure 16 of the slewing mechanism 10, and a driver seat 24 is fixed onto the upper structure 16.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
