PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-way communication system performing two-way communication between a host device and a device unit by a compatible mode and a nibble mode via a parallel cable, and allowing certain knowledge of a state of the device unit even when it is difficult for the host device to identify a status signal returned from the device unit.;SOLUTION: The device unit receives state confirmation requirement from the host device in a control communication mode, and returns status information showing a state of the device unit to the host device as parallel data when changed over to a response communication mode.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
