PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio output apparatus capable of simply adjusting the synchronization between a video image of a display apparatus such as a plasma display device and an output audio of the audio output apparatus such as an audio amplifier. PSOLUTION: The audio output apparatus includes: an output means (output terminal 4t) for outputting a prescribed audio signal to the display apparatus for receiving a video signal including a moving picture and an audio signal synchronously with the video signal and reproducing the received signals; an input means (adjustment audio input terminal 4r) for receiving the audio signal outputted from the output terminal outputting the audio signal adjusted to be synchronous with the video image displayed on the display apparatus; a calculation means (a coincidence detection circuit 4j and a control circuit 4g) for comparing the audio signal outputted from the output means with the audio signal received from the input means to calculate a delay amount; and a delay means (digital delay circuit 4i) for receiving the audio signal synchronously with the video signal including the moving picture, delaying the audio signal by the delay amount and providing an output of the result.
