PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly perform AMC (Adaptive Modulation and channel Coding) and a hybrid ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request), to make a waste of the retransmission of a packet data block small, and to lighten a load of channel decoding on a reception side. PSOLUTION: The MIMO (Multi Input Multi Output) multiplex transmission device is equipped with: a packet data block generation section which generates a packet data block as a retransmission unit of a hybrid ARQ, a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) imparting section which imparts an error detection code, a channel encoding section which performs channel encoding, a parallel-series conversion section which converts an output of the channel encoding section to a series form, an inter-transmitted-stream interleaving section which interleaves an output of the parallel-series conversion section into a plurality of transmitted streams, and a series-parallel conversion section which converts an output of the inter-transmitted-stream interleaving section to a parallel form, which are connected one after another in one to a plurality of data paths, respectively; and an encoding rate variation section which varies an encoding rate and a data modulation section which performs data modulation, which are connected one after another in a plurality of data paths branching from the series-parallel conversion section.
