PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cellulose-decomposing and/or hemicellulose-decomposing enzyme. PSOLUTION: This method comprises using a residue from ethanol fermentation of an enzyme hydrolysate of a (ligno)cellulosic material. The method is preferably integrated with a method for producing ethanol from the (ligno)cellulosic material which includes a process (1) for chemically and/or physically pretreating the (ligno)cellulosic material, a process (2) for enzymatically hydrolyzing the pretreated material by using the cellulose-decomposing and/or hemicellulose-decomposing enzyme, a process (3) for producing fermentation must by conducting the ethanol fermentation of the hydrolyzate by using a suitable alcohol-forming microorganism, and a process (4) for separating/purifying the ethanol, by separating the alcohol-forming microorganism, and producing a water phase composing the residue and in which the residue is used for producing the cellulose-decomposing and/or hemicellulose-decomposing enzyme used in the process (2).
