PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new silylcyanation catalyst having a high catalytic activity.;SOLUTION: As the silylcyanation catalyst, 295 μmol LiCl is measured and put in a 10 mL side-arm flask which has been dried through heating, a stirring bar coated with Teflon (R) is added to the flask, and the flask is placed in an argon atmosphere. After adding 10 mL THF using a syringe, the flask is soaked in an ultrasonic cleaner and subjected to an ultrasonic treatment to obtain a solution, which is further stirred at 20°C to obtain a catalyst solution. Meanwhile, 9.94 mmol benzaldehyde and 10.5 mmol trimethylsilyl cyanide are put in the side-arm flask, which has been dried through heating and is equipped with a Teflon-coated stirring bar, and stirred at 20°C in an argon atmosphere. The previously prepared THF solution of the catalyst (1.00 μmol) is added to this with a microsyringe and stirred for 1 hr. Heat is produced at the beginning of the reaction.
