PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein expressed in a cement gland of cypris larva of barnacles able to be used for elucidating an adhesion mechanism and applicable to a biodegradable adhesive in salt water or a wet environment by identifying and finding molecules necessary for adhesion of the cypris larva of barnacles and provide a gene encoding the same. PSOLUTION: The cement-associated protein specifically expressed and secreted in the cement gland of cypris larva of barnacles and the gene encoding the protein are provided by combining detail dissection techniques with molecular biological means.
