PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fabricate a thermoelement having a large mechanical strength.;SOLUTION: A thermoelectric material is made by adding at least one kind of element or compound selected among a second material group including Pb, Sn, Te, and PbI2, and at least one kind of element selected among a third material group including Fe, Ni, and Mg to a compound containing Te selected among a first material group including Pb, Sn, and Te. It is preferred that the element or compound selected among the second material group including Pb, Sn, Te, and PbI2 is added by x pts.wt. (0x≤1.0) with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the compound containing Te selected among the first material group including Pb, Sn, and Te. Furthermore, it is preferred that the element selected among the third material group including Fe, Ni, and Mg is added by y pts.vol.
