PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the formation of microcrystals otherwise separated as floatings from the surface of a raw material for a single crystal in growing the raw material into the single crystal.;SOLUTION: The method comprises a step (the firing step) of firing a raw material by means of a firing apparatus to form a fired product, a step (the second firing step) of firing the fired product formed in the preceding firing step again at a temperature lower than that in the preceding firing step to form a fired product, a step (the surface-treatment step) of surface-treating the fired product produced by the firing step and the second firing step, the surface treatment herein mentioned being performed by chemical etching with an etching solution (etching means), and cutting the surface-treated fired product along cutting lines A into a plurality of raw materials 5 for single crystals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
