PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrostatic image development exhibiting good charging characteristics, a developer including the toner for electrostatic image development, an image forming method using the developer, and a method for evaluating the charging performance of a toner for electrostatic image development. PSOLUTION: The toner for electrostatic image development includes at least a binder resin, a colorant and a charge control agent, wherein the surface potential of an arbitrary surface of the toner particles for electrostatic image development after contact charging measured by a surface potential measuring mode of a scanning probe microscope varies from the surface potential before the contact charging by ≥±1,000 mV.
