PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect information related to ink in an ink tank by a simple constitution so that it can be applied also to a compact ink tank, and moreover to simply and surely store detected information.;SOLUTION: An ink residual quantity detection module 20 has a supporting substrate 21, an information storage element 22 set at a first face 21b of the supporting substrate 21, and external contact electrodes 24 set at a second face 21c of the supporting substrate 21. Two through-holes 21a penetrating from the first face 21b to the second face 21c are formed in the supporting substrate 21. A sealing structure 23 for covering the information storage element 22 and the through-holes 21a are set at the first face 21b of the supporting substrate 21. The sealing structure 23 is formed in a prism shape by a member which passes light. The ink residual quantity detection module 20 is attached to a cap part 2 which constitutes a part of a case of the ink tank while the sealing structure 23 is exposed to the interior of an ink chamber 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
