PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction optical lens in which a mode profile having a certain shape is converted to an optical mode of a different mode profile, and also to provide a mode profile conversion method in which the mode profile of the optical beams is easily converted.;SOLUTION: In the diffraction optical lens, a plurality of prisms having different angles is formed into a plurality of elliptical shapes which have the same center and respectively have similarity relationships and the prisms function as a bent surface. In the optical beam mode profile conversion method, first optical beams having an elliptically shaped mode profile are converted into second optical beams having a mode profile of the elliptical shape in which the ratio between the major axis and the minor axis is made different with respect to the elliptical shape of the first optical beams.
