PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain quick warm-up of a fuel cell by preventing thermal damage to the fuel cell system. PSOLUTION: The fuel cell system is equipped with an air path 31 to supply air to a fuel cell 2, a compressor 5 to compress air, a heat exchanger 6 to exchange heat with air compressed by the compressor 5, a heat exchanger bypass path 32 to let air flow going around the heat exchanger 6, a heat exchanger bypass control valve V2 to adjust a flow rate of the air flowing into a path toward the heat exchanger 6 and the heat exchanger bypass path 32, a humidifier 7 provided in a downstream side of the heat exchanger 6, a compressor outlet temperature sensor T1 to detect air temperature of the compressor 5 outlet, and a humidifier entrance temperature sensor T2 to detect an upstream air temperature of the humidifier 7. The heat exchanger bypass control valve V2 is controlled so as the detected air temperature at the compressor outlet temperature sensor T1 not to exceed a first predetermined temperature and so as the detected air temperature at the humidifier entrance temperature sensor T2 not to exceed a second predetermined temperature.
