PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-wavelength signal generating apparatus capable of generating light of more wavelengths and to provide the generating method of multi-wavelength light using the multi-wavelength signal generating apparatus.;SOLUTION: This invention is provided on the basis of the knowledge that when a prescribed multi-wavelength signal generating apparatus is used as a light source, light interference in an optical COM generator can be suppressed. The multi-wavelength signal generating apparatus has an optical comb generator for obtaining inputted light and an optical group having wavelengths shifted from the wavelength of the inputted light by every prescribed frequency and a light adjusting part adjusting light inputted in the optical comb generator. The optical comb generator is constituted of an optical fiber loop (105) provided with an optical SSB modulator (101), an optical amplifier (102) for compensating conversion loss in the optical SSB modulator, a light input port (103) in which light from the light source is input and a light output port (104) outputting light, and the light adjusting part is provided with a phase modulator and an intensity modulator or a frequency modulator.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
