PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the strictness of searches while maintaining good performance regarding update searches by constructing different kinds of indexes suited for different elements.;SOLUTION: Based on each element included in a structured document to be indexed, an index kind determining part in an index construction control part 153 determines the kind of index suited for each element. An index construction part 154 constructs different kinds of indexes determined by the index kind determining part, and the indexes are stored in an N-gram index DB 22, a word index DB 23 or a B-tree index DB 24, all of which serve as index storage means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
