PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anomaly detection device and anomaly detection method for a central processing unit in an electronic control unit that can detect an anomaly in a simple structure. PSOLUTION: The anomaly detection device for a central processing unit having a plurality of arithmetic means has an operation instruction input means for inputting operation instructions having the same operation result into the plurality of arithmetic means, an operation result comparison means for comparing the operation results of operations by the plurality of arithmetic means along the operation instructions input by the operation instruction input means, and an anomaly detection means for detecting an anomaly in the central processing unit according to the result of comparison by the operation result comparison means.
