PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recorder controlling a power source on the basis of image comparison.;SOLUTION: A system control circuit compares video data (hereinafter referred to as "received video image") based on a broadcast signal to be acquired from an MPEG encoder via a tuner with, for example, specific image data (hereinafter referred to as "stored image") stored in a hard disk at a predetermined period (step S2). If detecting that the received image matches with the stored image (YES in step S4), the system control circuit determines what is attributes of the stored image (step S6). If detecting that the attributes of the stored image are "ON" in the step S6, the system control circuit transmits an ON signal to a power source unit to turn ON the power source (step S8).
