PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication network using a device capable of shortening the processing time of each node, and to provide a method therefor.;SOLUTION: A transmitting side optical cross connect (OXC) determines the transmission factor that corresponds to the transmission rate of a transmitted signal and stabilizes an optical transmitter and an optical receiver based on an external transmission factor. The transmitting side optical cross connect further provides the transmission factor to OXCs existing between the transmitting side OXC and a receiving side OXC to stabilize the OXC and detects the transmission rate of an optical signal received by each of the OXCs to reduce a time needed to convert the transmission rate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
