PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unsaturated polyester resin excellent in slight odor and workability for curability, to develop an unsaturated polyester for the unsaturated polyester resin suitable for gelcoat and topcoat with high-level water resistance, weatherability and mechanical properties required for its cured product, to provide a molded product and/or lined structure utilizing the resin, and to provide methods for producing the resin, a resin composition containing the resin, the molded product and the lined structure, respectively.;SOLUTION: The unsaturated polyester is obtained by esterification reaction between (A) a polyhydric alcohol component consisting of an ether group-free ≥4C alkylene glycol, (B) a terminal-blocking component, (C) an unsaturated polyacid component selected from α,β-unsaturated polycarboxylic acids and (D) a saturated polycarboxylic acid comprising isophthalic or terephthalic acid. This unsaturated polyester has a polystyrene-reduced weight-average molecular weight of 4,000-10,000.
