PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide microorganisms capable of efficiently degrading bisphenol A; and to provide a degrading and treating method or the like, capable of efficiently degrading and treating the bisphenol A contained in a waste water, a waste material or the like by using the microorganisms. PSOLUTION: The bisphenol A-degrading microorganism has abilities for degrading the bisphenol A and belongs to the genus Nocardioides. The representative strain is Nocardioides sp. JBB-41 strain (FERM AP-20004). The method for degrading and treating the bisphenol A involves a step for bringing the bisphenol A-degrading microorganisms into contact with a sample from which the bisphenol A is to be removed.
