PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear with high strength with high accuracy without a hindrance in the engagement of gears by performing a first shot peening so that shot grain may collide with a tooth bottom part and a dendrum part of the gear and next performing a second shot peening so that shot grain may collide with an addendum part. ;SOLUTION: In a state that a gear 1 is revolved in the direction of the arrow A, shot grain is projected, aiming shot grain at a bottom surface 3 and a dedendum part 10 from a first air nozzle 8 (first shot peening). The projected shot grain mainly collides with the tooth bottom surface 3 and the dedendum part 10 of the gear 1 and compressive residual stress is generated in the parts 3 and 10. Next, shot grain is projected, aiming shot grain at the side part of an addendum surface 2 from a second air nozzle in the state that the gear 1 is revolved in the direction of the arrow A (clockwise) in the same way (second shot peening). The shot grain mainly collides with the boundary part of the addendum surface 2 of the gear 1 and an involute surface 5 and a burr 13 of the circumferential direction formed in the previous process is radially deformed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
